A Weekend in New York City: NYC TRAVEL GUIDE

So Much to See, So Little Time — And That’s the Best Part

We spent three whirlwind nights—about 72 hours—in New York City recently, and honestly, it was everything I hoped for and more. As a girl from rural West Texas, I was nervous about navigating the subway, but thanks to Google Maps, it was surprisingly user-friendly. I even managed to zig zag my way through the city streets chasing a viral TikTok about Jin Mei Dumplings, snagging 15 dumplings for just $5. Spoiler alert: it was totally worth it.

One of the highlights was finally getting into the legendary Comedy Cellar after a couple of tries. The energy and laughs were exactly the kind of authentic NYC experience I was hoping for. If I go back, I’ll definitely make sure to snag a reservation next time! We also managed to grab tickets to Moulin Rouge! on Broadway and were absolutely blown away. Seeing Boy George and Jordan Fisher live was such a treat and added so much magic to the night.

Of course, no trip to NYC would be complete without rooftop views. We loved 230 Fifth—live music, good food, and that skyline that steals the show (and yes, we got a table on a busy Friday night without a reservation!). Plus, a quick stop at Levain Bakery for one of their famously gooey cookies was non-negotiable. Even Taylor Swift knows what’s up.

We also spent some time wandering through Chelsea Market, a trendy food hall packed with local eats and artisanal goods that truly capture NYC’s creative vibe. My favorite spot inside was Artist and Fleas, a vibrant marketplace full of unique gifts, handmade treasures, and one-of-a-kind finds. I like to collect posters from the cities we visit, and I found the perfect graphic at Artist and Fleas, a unique keepsake that now reminds me of our NYC adventure.

If you’re planning your first visit—or your tenth!—my advice is simple: don’t stress. Dive in, follow your curiosity, and know that no matter what you choose to do, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.
